I haven't used deviantART for a while, and I am sure I haven't been in contact with most of my friends here, and I have lost my MSN password (silly me huh).
I have been in New York City for half a year now, actually. I've been having the whole uptown, midtown and downtown experiences. In the first month, I was on the Upper East Side, and then I moved downtown to a 20th floor apartment in a building on Wall St. Now, I have moved to a 1-bedroom apartment on the border of the Theatre District and Hell's Kitchen, Two blocks away from the heart of Times Square.
I've held a visiting researcher position at Columbia University for 3 months, but I decided to quit to dedicate my time working on a certain project with a friend. I would love to share with you guys once I've finished with it! Unfortunately, it is not a new cosplay, but could be more related to the cosplay community.
I've managed to somehow go into 3 fashion shows at the NY fashion week, and even went backstage! I've done a lot of random things, and met a lot of random people. I've been roommates with a stripper/exotic dancer and even went undercover for the NYPD. We've been travelling around as well... L.A., San Francisco, Boston, Villages of MA (Sturbridge, Salem, Plymouth, Cape Cod and Provincetown), New Orleans and upcoming AZ (Sedona, Phoenix and Flagstaff) and Las Vegas. It's so unlike me to be doing this, as I am usually a stable, grounded person, but it's a long and sad story, as things went a little bit pear shaped after the death of my Dad less than a year ago
. I am just trying to make the most of my bereavement period, and it has helped me a lot.
As for cosplay, I am still open to doing photo shoots for people, as I still do love photography, but I have honestly, slowly lost my passion for cosplaying, though I will still cosplay with my good friends if they want me to! However, I would like to concentrate my efforts on creating themed-photoshoots instead(with myself and others as the photographers), so if anyone is in the area or is planning to visit New York anytime soon, just drop me a line!
It's been great so far, but my PhD back in Cambridge is on hold, but I have to resume it in a few months time, so. I have 2 more years to go.
I am moving back to London around July or August.
